HIGHLIGHTS

[02:39]  The complexity of modern products and services, along with the scale and scope of our business activities, means that each of us has to specialize in order to contribute to a functioning whole. The greater the specialization of our roles, the more difficult the communication between us.

[06:48] Think of a concepts model as a set of shared agreements about what your words must mean.

[08:25] Once you have a concept model, data design becomes a breeze.

[11:03] Data is just the residue of things that have already happened in the business. If those things didn't happen correctly, if those activities didn't play by the rules, the you're never going to have high data quality.

[11:58] For the knowledge age, concept models are not a luxury, they are must have.

[16:22] In a room of twelve people, to make a long story short, we found seven different meanings of the word load L O A D!

[18:49] Get the concept wrong and the solution will never be right.

[22:30] Are we waiting for AI or machine learning to solve our problems for us? I got to tell you, that is just simply not going to happen.

[23:17] The way to think about data is as a communication to people in the future.
